______ Meat Market is a large-scale redevelopment project of 252 new-build flats delivered by Home Scotland for affordable rent.

___________Introduction

Located in the east end of Glasgow, the project is designed by award-winning architects and masterplanners, JTP, and will be built on site by CCG (Scotland) Ltd.  The Glasgow Meat Market was established in 1879 and covers six acres. It initially housed an inn, sheds and accommodation for sheep, bullocks and other livestock. The Meat Market was one of the last remaining markets in the country and closed in the 1980s.

___________Sustainability

The development is designed to achieve 'Gold Hybrid' (Gold Level Aspect 1 plus Silver Level Aspects 2 to 8) under Section 7 (Sustainability) of the 2017 Building Standards. The project is also required to achieve a 20% carbon emissions abatement using Low and Zero Carbon Generating Technologies (LZCGT).

___________Impact

Carbon Futures have been appointed to develop a cost-effective and practical energy and sustainability strategy for the development. This will involve in-depth discussion with the key stakeholders in order to determine the most practical energy strategy for the development.

Additional services provided by Carbon Futures included Approved Certifier of Design (Energy) certification, Building Regulation Compliance through the provision of SAP Calculations, provision of Energy Performance Certification and Thermal Modelling.
