Major Milestone for Passivahus Affordable Housing…

hubWest Scotland has officially confirmed the achievement of financial close on the first of six development sites we are delivering for East Dunbartonshire Council as part of its Affordable Housing Investment Programme Phase 2 (AHIP2).

The redevelopment of the former Merkland School site in Kirkintilloch will commence construction at the end of September, and will provide 43 new Passivhaus certified homes for social rent.

Appointed as Passivhaus Consultant and Energy Consultant on six development sites within the AHIP2 programme, Carbon Futures is responsible for assessing compliance with both the Passivhaus design criteria, and Section 6 (Energy) of the Building Standards. A key part of our role was to facilitate standardisation of the Passivhaus design and construction approach through continual dialogue with the design and construction teams during the various RIBA designs stages.

Congratulations to all development partners involved in reaching this important milestone. We look forward to seeing the other AHIP2 sites follow suit in the weeks and months ahead.
