______ Project Overview
The proposed new £140m development at Wyndford Road in Maryhill, Glasgow is set to be one of Scotland’s biggest regeneration projects. 386 new energy-efficient affordable homes will be constructed alongside a brand-new community hub, new play spaces and new bike storage. New green spaces will be created within the area and locals will benefit from improvements to walkways, cycle paths and car parking facilities. Subject to planning approvals, construction of the new homes is expected to begin in late 2026.
______ Our Scope
Carbon Futures has been appointed as Energy Consultants by Wheatley Group and will collaborate with the wider Project Team to develop a supporting energy strategy for this major housing development. Our responsibilities include delivery of an Energy Strategy Workshop, Energy Strategy Report and Statement on Energy during RIBA Stage 2-3 and production of Energy Compliance Reports, SAP Calculations, U-value Calculations and Psi-value Calculations (Thermal Bridging) and the role of Approved Certifiers of Design for Section 6 (Energy) at RIBA Stage 4. Our role concludes at completion with the provision of Energy Performance Certificates and Sustainability Labels.

The key targets for the development are to achieve compliance with Glasgow City Council’s Gold Hybrid criteria under SG5 Resource Management and Building Standards whilst also achieving an Energy Performance Certificate of Band B as a minimum.

Connection to the existing Wyndford District Heating Network

Waste Water Heat Recovery
By default of being connected to the existing Wyndford Heat Network, which is a Zero Direct Emissions Heating System, the proposed development will achieve Aspect Platinum Level 1 under Section 7 (Sustainability). It will also achieve Silver Active by complying with Aspect Silver Level 2-8 as a minimum.
