______Passivhaus Consultant

As the effects of the climate emergency and fuel crisis become increasingly evident in our daily lives, the need to design homes and buildings that minimise energy demand has never been more pertinent. This growing awareness is driving a surge in developments aiming to achieve the international Passivhaus standard.

Our Certified Passivhaus Consultancy service provides project design teams with support from concept through to completion ensuring that a development achieves Passivhaus Certification in a cost-effective and efficient way. Support is provided by our experienced team of Certified Passivhaus Consultants, who offer guidance and provide confidence throughout each stage of the process. Our team undertake Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) calculations to assess compliance and can also produce bespoke Psi-value Calculations to ensure that thermal bridging is minimised.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join the Carbon Futures team and lead our involvement in Passivhaus developments across the country.

We currently have over 200 units across numerous sites progressing to Certified Passivhaus, so this is a fantastic opportunity to work on Passivhaus at scale for a progressive company, with a supportive team environment.

______The Role Profile

We are looking for a Passivhaus Consultant to join our team in Glasgow. The role of Passivhaus Consultant is ideally suited to an individual of an architectural background with experience in being involved in the delivery of new-build and/or retrofit residential projects designed to a low-energy / low-carbon / Passivhaus standard.

The preferred candidate will have excellent knowledge of the key factors that impact on building energy performance including fabric design, thermal bridging, ventilation, airtightness, overheating, heating and hot water solutions, and renewable technology.

The candidate should also have a very good understanding of Climate Change / Net Zero guidance by organisations such as LETI and UKGBC and how to apply the guidance to building performance.

______Job Specifications

Experience

The ideal candidate will be a Certifier European Passivhaus Designer/Consultant and have experience in:

  • Delivering new-build and/or retrofit residential projects to a certified Passivhaus / EnerPHit standard
  • Using PHPP and Design PH
  • Analysing and understanding the energy performance of buildings
  • Operating within the construction sector

And a good understanding of:

    • The Passivhaus standard
    • Detailed construction drawings
    • Mechanical & electrical building services design
    • Low and zero carbon generating technologies

Skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent Autodesk AutoCAD skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and communicate effectively
  • Ability to produce detailed reports and effectively communicate results
  • Fluent spoken and written English is essential as is your eligibility to work in the UK
