The built environment is responsible for approximately 40% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In the UK, it’s estimated that around 70% of the buildings that existed in 2010 will still be in use by 2050. Improving the energy efficiency of this existing building stock is therefore critical, not only in achieving net zero targets, but also in maximising the value of network infrastructure investment in a cost-effective way and reducing fuel poverty.
