New Thistle Primary School project reaches major milestone

It was announced  by hub West Scotland on December 16th 2025 that Financial Close has been achieved on the project to construct a brand-new, sustainable primary school in Dargavel for Renfrewshire Council.

The Thistle Primary School has adopted the Scottish Government’s Net Zero Public Building Standard (NZPBS), which embeds ambitious energy, carbon and environmental performance objectives within the project brief and design.

As sustainability consultants, Carbon Futures has supported this project throughout the design and construction stages, carrying out:

✅ Operational Energy Modelling

✅ Indoor Environmental Quality Modelling

✅ Whole Life Carbon Life Cycle Assessments

In our role, and together with a talented design and construction team, we have been leading on the evidence-based assessments. We co-ordinated the evidence to support the project’s Net Zero Public Sector Building Standard certification, and have been liaising directly with Scottish Futures Trust on the NZPSBS submission.

We are delighted to see this project progressing well and look forward to seeing it on site early next year.
