Stanley Place was a £2.5 million development of 19 new affordable homes for rent located in East Kilbride for Link Group. Designed by Anderson Bell + Christie and built by McTaggart Construction, the project comprises a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes, and two wheelchair exemplar units.
The development was designed to achieve Bronze Active level for sustainability under Section 7 of the 2013 Scottish Building Regulations, which was achieved by using solar Photovoltaic Panels (PV). The project was also designed to achieve Silver Level Aspect 1 & 2 under Section 7 of the Scottish Building Regulations.
Carbon Futures worked with the design team to develop a cost-effective and practical energy and sustainability strategy for the development.
Multiple dwelling compliance was utilised to optimise the proposed strategy and photovoltaic panels were included to achieve compliance with Silver Level Aspect 1 & 2 under Section 7 (Sustainability) of the 2013 Building Standards, enabling the Link Group to achieve additional grant funding from Scottish Government through their ‘greener’ subsidy.
Additional services provided by Carbon Futures included Design Certification, Building Regulation Compliance and Energy Performance Certification.
